Your experiences come out in your writing. It can be easy as a writer to spend time behind a computer screen and see very little of the world but this isn’t the best way to become a great writer. The more books you read, the more culture you consume and the more places you visit the better your writing will be. I have always thought that you are the sum total of the experiences of your life. Your writing is the same – your work is the sum total of the things that you are exposed to.
Be aware of all the influences that go into your writing. The fact is that you want your business content to read a certain way. If you read a lot of news items then this will come through in your writing. You may not notice it straight away but your audience might. If you look back several months later then you can see trends emerge. Your writing will start to take om elements of what you are reading and what else you are doing in your life.
Photographers report a similar phenomenon. If they are in a dark point of their life then their images show that. Again it might not be immediately obvious but later ion it can be easier to see.
I recommend that you do some writing for yourself as well as for your business. If you write a short blog, a small note or part of a story then you become more creative and it feels like a break from the writing you do for your business. Even though writing for other people is my full-time job, I still take the time to write for myself as I find it therapeutic. You can see my books on my Amazon Author page.
