Content writing is a great way to earn a living. I asked myself the question ‘ Do you want to become a content writer ?’ I started by doing a bit of writing on the side while I was working full-time for someone else. I loved it so much and it grew so quickly that I soon quit my job and now I work for myself writing interesting and varied pieces for different people all the time. It has really changed the way I live my life and if you want to become a content writer then you can easily teach yourself the basics and start your own business.
There are many places that you can start to develop your content and style. I suggest that you get your own blog to begin with. The skills that you learn in writing and developing a blog will help you no end when it comes to writing for someone else. You will learn how to write things that others want to read, you will develop a flow that allows you to write more quickly and earn more money. You also get to learn different skills and techniques that make writing more engaging. This is the first answer you need to the question ‘ Do you want to become a content writer ?’
Start with your won blog and see where this takes you. Write one or two blog entries per week to begin with and develop from there.
Your next step will be to write for someone else. Once you’ve built up some confidence then look on the freelance websites and you will be able to write content for others. If you are developing your skills for your own use then this is the point that you move away from a blog and on to your own website. Don’t be afraid to go back to this in the future and make any edits you need. I look back at my work every few months to ensure that it does what I want it to do.
Do you want to become a content writer ? – then think about this.
Writing should come naturally – you can’t force it. You need to take your time to get it right in the early days. Your reputation here will go a long way to determining how successful you are in the long run. Take all the time you need. read it and re-read it until you are totally happy with it. If the customer wants some changes made hen don’t take this to heart and learn from it. The more that you do here, the better it will be for you later on.
This is the most important lesson I have learned from my time as a content writer. Knowing the end audience is vital to ensure that you are writing in the correct style at the beginning. Ask your customers who their audience is. Ask them the style that they like. The more information that you can gather on this from the outset, the better your work will be. As you do all the work at the front end it will be easy to deliver something that they will love at the other end of the process.
I’ve been through this process myself and I enjoyed every minute of it. If you are heading in the same direction then you may need some support. I would have loved someone to talk to or email about what I was going through. If you need helping in writing or planning your content then just get in touch. I’d be delighted to have a chat and see how I can help.
