I want to be content with my life (and work is a large part of that)
And with these in mind, I ask people if they are content with their writing. For some, writing is a hobby. They might jot down a few notes or write a blog on their favourite subject. For others, writing is an integral part of their business. We all know that Google is looking for new and relevant content to rank a business on their search engines.
At the end of all this, the writing you produce must be something you enjoy. If you want to sustain what you do then making it as easy and as fun as possible is the key. After all, if it takes hours and you hate every minute of those hours then you won’t come back to it. And your writing will suffer. Maybe your business will suffer too.
How To Become Content With Your Writing
If you don’t enjoy writing then you won’t keep it up. But don’t despair. There are ways of making it all as much fin as you need it to be. Here are my top tips on how to make the most of your writing –
Find the right time of day. It makes a massive difference to me writing at the start of the day rather than the end. I feel fresher and seem to get much more dine, much more quickly and accurately. I know other writers who work better long into the hours of darkness. So try writing at different times of the day to see which suits you best.
Get the subject matter right. It can take ages trying to think about what to write. The lack of inspiration means you spend a long time coming up with the idea and lose the passion to actually get writing. If you sit down and brainstorm a series of ideas on a separate occasion to writing then you eliminate the frustration that comes with this.
Give yourself a break. It isn’t always easy to write. Don’t be too tough on yourself. If it doesn’t flow the first time then walk away and come back to it at a later date. You won’t produce high quality work if you aren’t into it. Go for a walk, get something else done and return feeling ready to write.
These ideas will help you make the most of your writing. After all, if you’re not feeling content with it, then you won’t get the most from the process.
