If you are looking to become a blogger, then you might wonder what the road to success looks like. There are a few blogging tips that I can share with you on that road. Don’t worry too much about your blog. Whether it is a personal blog, or something for your business, success is closer than you may think.
Here are my top blogging tips that will guide you along the way.
Know What You Want
This might sound really simple, but you should know what you want from your blog. The first of my blogging tips should be where you start with just about anything you do in life.
Take a few minutes now. I’ll wait while you do this. Get a pen and paper and jot down a few ideas about what you want from your blog. It can be things such as –
To grow a regular audience of 1,000 people
At least 20 comments per blog
To bring in sales of £100 per week
The feeling that others are reading what I have to say
Whatever it is, focused on business or personal, you should have at least a vague idea of what you want to acheive with your blog. Get this written down and have it someplace that you can see it. Step one is in place. Let’s take a look at the other blogging tips. Your audience will thank you.
Write What You Are Comfortable With
There has been far too much emphasis in the past on word counts. If you read enough of the internet, then you will be told that you MUST write 300 words, 750 words, 1500 words.
Write the amount that you are comfortable with. Some subjects will need more words than others. That’s a fact. Be happy that your audience will read the amount of words you choose.
When it comes to blogging tips, this one takes away a lot of the stress associated with writing a blog. Take it on board.
Break It Up
A blog can be a large proposition for a reader. You are asking them to invest their time in your words. The next blogging tip is to think about what that looks like.
Looking at a page filled with text and nothing else can make people switch away. Time is limited. People don’t have an endless store of it. With this in mind, break the text up.
You’ll see from this blog that there are short paragraphs, bullet points, headings and images. All of this makes the page more attractive on first view.
People don’t click on to a sea of words and then click straight back off again. This is a simple one on our list of blogging tips.
The last part of the blog is the bit that people will remember. Or at least is should be. Make sure that the ending has two things –
Something to remember you by
A call to action
These two together are the perfect way to end strongly. The hook that they remember you with is the prompt to come back. The call to action is the prompt to do something right now.
It’s a 1-2 punch. If one doesn’t get you, then the other will! It helps if all your content sizzles, but the ending is vitally important.
These blogging tips are designed to make the process as easy as possible for you. If you follow these then you won’t end up on the list of the worst blogs on the internet.
If you have read all of this and still think you can’t blog then firstly you’re wrong! Practice makes perfect when blogging. Just write and see what happens. If you don’t enjoy it after that, then drop us a line and we’ll take the strain away.
