There are many ways to market yourself as a content writer. I have seen quite a few fellow content writers on LinkedIn in particular over the last few weeks complaining that they haven’t got a lot of work on and are looking for either –
I say that there is little need to do either of these things if you are a writer. You can always fill the time with other activities, many of which will boost your business. The blog on this website now has well over a hundred pieces. Each will serve as a potential to drive traffic here and potentially get me business. I have got enquiries this way and written for people who have been introduced to my work on this site. This would be a more productive use of your time, marketing as a content writer than getting a part time job stacking shelves at the local supermarket, as one content writer recently wrote.
And this isn’t the only way you can so this. I wrote only last week about writing for yourself as well as others. If you have the skills as a content writer to turn your words into money then why not go ahead and do that for yourself? There must be passions and interest you have that can work for you. I have the following websites that I do this for –
These mean I’m never in the situation where I don’t have anything to write about. If you don’t have topics that come to mind, then why not share your passion as a writer? This is a great way to think about your art and also can be useful for marketing as a content writer. Check out my books here –
Check them out and you can see how you might be able to make money writing for yourself and fill in the time rather than being a Christmas temp at Tesco, for instance. It’s much more fun!
As always, drop me a line if you have any questions about this.
